The Adélia Foundation combats
Sexual Violence
focusing on women, children and vulnerable people

OUR BEGGINING

The Adélia Foundation was created by the portuguese magistrate and current foundation chairperson Fátima Adélia Pires Martins, following a visit to Kenya and after coming into contact with Strathmore University and the issue of sexual violence against women and children and other more vulnerable groups.

Children are raped in Kenya

This is an issue that remains controversial in Kenyan public opinion and is made complex by various cultural and tribal aspects and the many nuances that cut across the whole of Kenya’s society.

It involves, for example, cases of female genital mutilation, child marriages, rape of children as a right of the father or tribal chief…

It is, however, a serious violation of fundamental human rights.

What we do to help
the survivors

We are working to prevent the problem with a multidisciplinary and integrated approach as well as to support survivors is the mission of the Adélia Foundation.

We do not begin with large-scale projects, as we do not have the resources for it, but with your support we can make each new project/activity the most successful one yet!

Help us do better each and every time!

ROUNDTABLES AND CONFERENCES

The Foundation aims to act in close proximity to the population, where the cases occur, and to work with the local and tribal communities even where this reality is defended as a practice.
